Western Isles Internet use at home figures are based on information compiled by National Statistics, compared with information provided by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar Economic Planning Department.

National Statistics published information estimating 48% of households in Scotland can access the internet from home as at April 2006. Internet Statistics (UK average 57%)

This is a steadily rising trend, from which can be extrapolated an increase to 55% households in Scotland with home internet access by March 2007.

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar Economic Planning Department helpfully provided an estimate of 21,499 adults (over 16 years old) in the Western Isles.

It is therefore a fair estimate to say that around 11,824 adults in the Western Isles have home internet in March 2007.
